Hello, and welcome!

Welcome to My Blog: What to Expect

Hi, I’m Gal. This blog is something I’ve wanted to create for a long time, and I’m finally doing it! Here, you’ll find discussions about autism, disabilities, art, my personal journey, and the projects I’m working on. If you’re an artist, disabled, neurodivergent, or just someone who loves creativity, I hope you’ll feel at home here.

A Little About Me

I wasn’t diagnosed as autistic until I was 49—just last year. That discovery was life-changing, helping me understand so much about myself. I also have two children on the spectrum, so neurodiversity is a significant part of my world.

Art has been a constant in my life for as long as I can remember. I’m not a trained artist, and honestly, I don’t think I’m particularly great at it—but that has never stopped me. I love to learn, experiment, and create for the sheer joy of it. Over the years, I’ve taught myself different techniques, sometimes obsessively diving into new creative rabbit holes.

I also have a deep connection to the disabled community, shaped by my cousin Kim, who was severely disabled. She was only three months younger than me, and we grew up together. That experience shaped how I see the world and gave me a lifelong passion for advocating for disabled people.

The Journey Back to Art

Despite my love for art, I stepped away from it for several years. I’m not even sure why. Life got in the way, I suppose. But over the past couple of years, I found myself in a very dark place. After my autism diagnosis, I picked up my art supplies again—almost instinctively. And honestly? It saved me.

Creating has given me an outlet, a way to process emotions, and a path to reconnect with myself. That’s why I want this blog to be more than just a place to share my thoughts—I want it to be a space where creativity, disability, and self-discovery intersect.

What You Can Expect from This Blog

Each week, I’ll be sharing thoughts, stories, and insights on topics like:

  • Autism and creativity

  • The challenges and joys of being a disabled artist

  • My experiences with speech and communication struggles

  • Tips and resources for disabled creatives

  • My current projects and business journey

  • Proprioception and the challenges it presents

  • Tools and techniques to assist with proprioceptive difficulties

If any of that resonates with you, stick around. Let’s build a community where we can learn from each other, support one another, and most importantly—keep creating.

See you next week!
